Services & Fees

CALM delivers comprehensive ADHD care for university students with streamlined billing. When eligible, we direct bill the assessment/counselling portion of the visit to your insurance provider; if not, we provide an itemized receipt with simple claim instructions. Physician visits are billed to MSP when applicable; otherwise, private-pay receipts can be submitted to your insurer. Coverage varies and is confirmed at your first visit.

ADHD Assessment, Counselling & Strategies

At CALM, students begin with personalized one-on-one sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor who conducts a comprehensive assessment of learning patterns, attention challenges, and cognitive functioning. Progress is tracked through brief, evidence-based questionnaires, allowing counsellors to tailor each session and teaching to your individual goals and needs.

Medical Assessment and Treatment:

Our physicians play an active role in your care by reviewing your counselling assessments and questionnaire results from the very beginning to understand your progress and clinical needs. If medication is recommended, you’ll be scheduled for a short series of physician visits that include both telehealth consultations and an in-person physical exam. To begin this step, a referral from your family doctor or a walk-in clinic is required — you’ll automatically receive a reminder and referral form after your second counselling session. For eligible BC residents, all medically necessary physician appointments are fully covered through MSP, ensuring accessible, coordinated care without additional financial burden.

  • Review of counselling reports
  • Short series of physician visits
  • Lab, ECG, & Medication Plan
  • Follow-ups and medication initiation and titration

Billing & Insurance:

In most cases, CALM can bill your counselling sessions directly to your insurance provider, so you typically won’t need to pay out of pocket. If direct billing isn’t available for your specific plan or provider, we’ll issue an itemized receipt so you can easily submit your claim online through your insurer’s member portal, mobile app, or by mail.

To help make the booking process as smooth as possible, you will be asked to confirm a few details before registration is completed:

  • Your counselling insurance provider

  • Any pre-authorization form required for direct billing through that provider

  • Whether you have BC MSP coverage for doctor visits

  • Your BC Care Card / MSP number, if applicable

  • Whether your doctor visits would be MSP-covered or private pay

  • A backup payment method, if needed

Coverage limits and annual maximums vary depending on your university’s plan. We’ll confirm your eligibility during your first visit and let you know if any co-pay applies. If you are an international student without MSP or an out-of-province student, we are unable to direct bill doctor visits to your insurance provider. In those situations, we will provide an itemized receipt for each doctor visit that you may submit to your insurer for possible reimbursement.

Accommodation Letters:

Academic accommodation documentation, such as letters or forms, is not included as part of counselling or physician visits and is billed separately. These documents are not covered by MSP or any third-party insurance plans.

Preparing documentation that meets your university’s accessibility office standards requires clinician time to review assessment records and test data, and to prepare a formal summary that includes:

  • A diagnosis (when appropriate)
  • Descriptions of functional limitations affecting academic tasks (such as reading, writing, note-taking, or exam performance)
  • The severity and expected duration of symptoms
  • The rationale for recommended accommodations.

At most post-secondary institutions, students must register with their accessibility office, which issues the official Accommodation documentation after reviewing qualified medical documentation provided by a licensed clinician.
