Academic accommodation documentation, such as letters or forms, is not included as part of counselling or physician visits and is billed separately. These documents are not covered by MSP or any third-party insurance plans.
Preparing documentation that meets UBC’s Center for Accessibility standards requires clinician time to review assessment records and test data, and to prepare a formal summary that includes:
- A diagnosis (when appropriate)
- Descriptions of functional limitations affecting academic tasks (such as reading, writing, note-taking, or exam performance)
- The severity and expected duration of symptoms
- The rationale for recommended accommodations.
At UBC, students must register with the Center for Accessibility, which issues the official Letter of Accommodation after reviewing qualified medical documentation provided by a licensed clinician.
